The short answer
The best Gamma alternative for most people in November 2026 is Canva, made by Canva in Australia, because Canva AI 2.0 drafts presentations as editable, on-brand designs and the Canva Free plan keeps a refreshing monthly AI allowance. Inside a company, use the tool your office suite already includes: Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, or Gemini in Google Slides, which has built full decks from Drive files since 30 June 2026. Tome no longer offers its presentation app.
Why people look for Gamma alternatives
Gamma, made by Gamma Tech Inc., had its biggest update yet with Gamma 5, announced on 6 October 2026: a new editor, a more capable agent that plans, researches and designs, and automatic checks for overflowing text and bad crops. Our Gamma guide covers it in full. These are the most common reasons people still look elsewhere:
- The free credits do not come back. Gamma Free gives 400 credits at sign-up that never refresh, and every AI action uses credits. After a few decks you either pay or stop.
- Training is on by default on personal plans. Gamma's help centre says content on Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra may be used to train AI models unless you opt out under your avatar, Settings, then Data Controls. Only Business and Enterprise are locked off.
- Corporate templates. Gamma makes good-looking layouts, but it is not built to follow a company's PowerPoint master to the pixel, and many organisations still send everything as PowerPoint.
- Research needs checking. Research mode is only on Pro and above, web search cannot be fully switched off, and researched facts still need a human check.
- Your company already pays for an assistant. If Microsoft 365 Copilot or Gemini is in your licence, a separate presentation tool can be hard to justify.
We checked each alternative below on its maker's own pages on 1 November 2026. Prices change often, so we link each pricing page instead of quoting numbers.
1. Canva: the best all-round Gamma alternative
Best for: people whose decks have to look on brand and sit alongside social posts, documents and print.
Why: Canva AI 2.0, launched as a research preview on 16 April 2026, turns a brief or a document into fully layered, editable designs, including presentations, and can make the deck and the matching social posts in one request. Brand Intelligence applies your fonts and colours from the first draft. Canva Brush, launched on 29 October 2026 for Canva Pro subscribers first, can apply one change across every slide of a deck. Canva imports PowerPoint files (up to 300 slides, in beta) and downloads presentations as PPTX. Our Gamma vs Canva comparison picks a winner for each kind of work.
The catch: Canva is stronger on design than on the argument of a deck; Gamma does more of the thinking about structure. Conversational design with Canva AI is an Ultra AI tool that the free plan does not include, and the paid AI allowance is only described as a multiple of Free (Pro 10 times, Business 20 times).
Free plan: Yes. Canva Free has a monthly allowance for Standard and Premium AI tools, one Brand Kit with three colours and 5 GB of storage, but no Ultra AI. See Canva pricing.
2. Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint: the best choice for Microsoft 365 workplaces
Best for: anyone who has to deliver in PowerPoint, especially on a company template.
Why: Copilot works inside PowerPoint itself, so there is nothing to export. Microsoft's support page says Copilot can build a draft presentation from a Word document, complete with images and speaker notes: open a blank presentation, select Copilot on the ribbon, type "Create presentation from file" and pick the file. You can then add or remove slides, swap images and rehearse with Speaker Coach. In October 2026 Microsoft brought Claude Sonnet 5.5 to Copilot in PowerPoint and added a way to record a repeated presentation task as a reusable skill. With a work licence, Microsoft 365 Copilot can draw on your organisation's files and mail. See our Microsoft Copilot guide.
The catch: there are two Copilots. The consumer one comes with Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium and Pro; only the work version, Microsoft 365 Copilot, can see your company's files. Microsoft says prompts, responses and file contents in Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps for home are not used to train foundation models; it does not clearly state the training policy for the updated standalone Copilot app.
Free plan: No. Free Copilot chat does not put Copilot inside PowerPoint; you need Microsoft 365 Personal or higher at home, or a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence at work. See Copilot pricing for individuals.
3. Gemini in Google Slides: the best choice for Google Workspace teams
Best for: teams that live in Google Drive, Docs and Slides.
Why: since Google's update on 30 June 2026, Gemini in Google Slides creates a full, multi-slide presentation from one prompt. It can ground the deck in files from Google Drive, match the style of a presentation you attach, suggest related files, emails and chats, and let you review or approve the outline before it builds fully editable, native slides. Start by adding a prompt in the Slides side panel. For Workspace accounts, Google says content is not human reviewed or used for training outside your domain without permission. See our Gemini guide.
The catch: at launch it supported English (United States) only, and it is limited to certain plans: Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra, and Google AI Pro for Education.
Free plan: No. A free Google account does not include presentation generation in Slides; you need Google AI Pro or Ultra, or an eligible Workspace edition. See Google AI plans.
4. ChatGPT Slides: the best choice if you already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business
Best for: people who already do their research and writing in ChatGPT and want the deck in the same place.
Why: OpenAI added ChatGPT Slides on 16 October 2026. You ask ChatGPT in Work to create a presentation in Space, start from a conversation, files or an outline, invite teammates to edit the same deck in real time, and on the web export it to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides. Because the slides come out of the same conversations and files as your research, you skip the copy and paste. See our ChatGPT guide.
The catch: it is only for eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users, so Free, Go and Plus subscribers cannot use it. It is also brand new: you can share an example deck to guide the style and layout, but OpenAI's release notes say nothing about brand kits or locked company templates.
Free plan: No. ChatGPT has a free plan, but Slides is not part of it. The separate ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in, generally available since mid-2026, does work on Free and every other plan and builds slides inside PowerPoint itself. See ChatGPT pricing.
5. Beautiful.ai: the best choice for consistent team decks
Best for: sales, marketing and leadership teams that send many decks and want them to look alike.
Why: Beautiful.ai's Pro plan lists unlimited AI content generation, AI image generation, an AI writing assistant and AI translation, so there are no credits to ration. The Team plan (2 to 20 seats) adds live collaborative editing, a central slide and template library, custom branded themes, a shared asset library and engagement analytics; Enterprise adds SSO, audit logs and SCIM. Beautiful.ai lists PowerPoint import and export.
The catch: there is no free plan. The 14-day free trial of Pro or Team needs a credit card and is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel.
Free plan: No, trial only. See Beautiful.ai pricing.
6. Pitch: the best choice for collaborative decks on a small budget
Best for: startups and small teams that build decks together and share them as links.
Why: Pitch Agent generates a presentation from a prompt, and the editor is built for several people working on one deck. Paid plans add monthly AI credits (Plus 500, shared across the team; Team 500; Business 750), unbranded PDF exports and PowerPoint export (the comparison table lists it for Team and Business; the Plus description also mentions it), and you can buy extra credits or set a credit budget in workspace settings. You can upload a PPTX file, and Pitch suggests exporting Google Slides or Keynote decks to PPTX first and then importing them.
The catch: the free plan does not export to PowerPoint, its PDF exports and embeds carry Pitch branding, and its AI credits do not renew once used.
Free plan: Yes. Pitch Free includes 100 AI credits (one time), unlimited presentations, custom templates, basic sharing links, two external guests and 10 GB of storage. See Pitch pricing.
What happened to Tome?
Tome was once a popular Gamma rival. Its founders left the presentation app to build Lightfield, an AI-native CRM for sales teams, which Lightfield announced as generally available in November 2025, and tome.app no longer serves the presentation product. Do not pick Tome for new work, and if you still have old Tome exports, treat them as PDF or PowerPoint files to import elsewhere.

Which Gamma alternative should you pick?
Start with what you already pay for. If your employer gives you Microsoft 365 Copilot, use Copilot in PowerPoint, because the result is already a PowerPoint on your company template. If it gives you Gemini in a Google Workspace edition, use Gemini in Google Slides. If you pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business, try ChatGPT Slides before buying anything new. Outside those cases, Canva is the best general pick because it has a free plan that keeps working and handles everything around the deck. Choose Beautiful.ai when a team needs every deck to look the same, and Pitch when a small team builds decks together. For more options, see the best AI for presentations, Canva AI alternatives or our comparison tool.
How to switch from Gamma without losing your work
- Export every deck you want to keep. Gamma exports to PowerPoint, Google Slides and PDF, and since August 2026 tables stay editable in PowerPoint exports. Export to PowerPoint for anything you may edit again and to PDF for a record of how it looked.
- Pick the export that matches your new tool. Use Google Slides export if you are moving to Gemini in Google Slides. Use PowerPoint for Copilot in PowerPoint, Canva (its PowerPoint import is in beta and skips charts, SmartArt, 3D objects and WordArt), Pitch (which imports PPTX) and Beautiful.ai (which lists PowerPoint import).
- Rebuild charts that come from data. If you used Gamma's Smart Charts with a one-way sync from Google Sheets, do not expect an exported file to keep updating. Check every chart against the sheet and reconnect the data in the new tool.
- Save your theme as a template. Note the fonts, colours and logo from your Gamma theme, fix one exported deck in the new tool and save it as your template before you move the rest.
- Use your remaining credits first. Paid Gamma credits roll over up to double your monthly amount, but they do not move with you. Finish any AI-heavy work before your renewal date.
- Close the data loop. Before you leave, check Settings, then Data Controls in Gamma so that training is off, and set the equivalent privacy control in your new tool on day one.
