For most of its life, Claude answered in text. Since September 2026, it can hand you a finished slide deck, a clickable prototype or a document your whole team can edit, from any ordinary conversation. Anthropic calls these three tools Claude Slides, Claude Design and Claude Docs, and together with the older artifacts they are available on every plan, including Free. If you still copy Claude's answers into PowerPoint or Google Docs by hand, this is the change that will save you the most time this month.
What each one makes
Claude Slides makes presentations from your notes, reports or the work already in your chat. You can edit any slide directly and present without leaving Claude. When you're done, export to PowerPoint or PDF, or send the deck straight to Google Slides.
Claude Design makes visual work: mockups, one-pagers, landing pages, posters and interactive prototypes you can click through. It launched in April 2026 as a separate research preview running on Opus 4.7, and it now lives inside every conversation. You can export a design as PDF, PowerPoint or standalone HTML, or send it directly to tools such as Canva, Gamma, Lovable, Replit, v0, Vercel and Wix.
Claude Docs makes living documents that you and your team write together with Claude in real time, with headings, tables and multiple tabs. Docs export to Word, PDF, Markdown or Google Docs.
How to start one
The simplest way is to ask. "Turn this into a ten-slide deck for our board" or "make a one-page landing page mockup for this product" is enough. You can also pick the format first: in the message box, open Output and choose a Slides, Design or Docs template, or type /docs at the start of a message to start a document. The Artifacts tab has the same templates, and on your phone you can ask in any chat and open the result in that tab.
The best results come from giving Claude real material. Attach the report the deck should summarise, paste the notes from the meeting, or connect the drive where your numbers live. A deck built from your own content needs far fewer rounds of edits than one built from a one-line prompt.
Make it look like your brand
The biggest upgrade for anyone making work for a company is design systems. A design system tells Claude your colours, fonts, components and layout patterns, so every deck and mockup comes out on brand without you correcting it. You can build one by asking Claude to create it from your logo, fonts, an existing slide deck, brand guidelines, Figma files or a codebase. Developers can run /design-sync in Claude Code, which works best with React component libraries. Manage your systems under Settings, then Capabilities.
Design systems are in beta on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, so free users get Design without the brand memory. On Enterprise, an owner has to switch design systems on first and can limit who is allowed to publish or change them.
Edit, share and export
There are three ways to change a design, and knowing which to use saves time. Use the chat for broad changes like "make it feel more premium" or "add a pricing section". Use inline comments on a specific element for small fixes. Edit the canvas directly when you just want to nudge the layout. In Docs, you can type yourself, ask in chat, or highlight a passage and choose Edit with Claude.
To share, use the Share button. People you share a design with can view, comment or edit. Docs on Free, Pro and Max are shared by link, while Team and Enterprise can share with specific people, a group or the whole organisation, but not outside it. Anyone opening a shared doc needs a Claude account. For developers, Handoff to Claude Code sends a finished design into a coding session so it can become a real page.
Limits worth knowing
These tools are new, and Anthropic's help pages are honest about the rough edges. Claude Design has no version history yet, so duplicate a design before trying a big change you might want to undo. Several people editing the same design at once may not work reliably. Deleting a doc is permanent, and charts inside docs don't update automatically. Everything you make with Design, Slides and Docs counts toward your plan's normal usage limits, and Design no longer has its own separate weekly allowance.
The deadline: claude.ai/design closes on 14 December
If you used the original standalone Claude Design site at claude.ai/design, Anthropic says it closes on 14 December 2026. Your design systems and important projects should be moved into regular Claude before then. Open each one, check it in a normal conversation, and export anything you want to keep as a file of your own.
What we would do this week
Pick one deliverable you make every month, such as a client report, a team update deck or a campaign one-pager, and ask Claude to make the next one from your raw notes. If you are on a paid plan, spend fifteen minutes setting up a design system from your existing brand files first, because every later request benefits from it. Then export the result into the tool your team already uses, so nobody has to change how they work to benefit. Our Claude lessons cover Projects and artifacts step by step, and our Stacks show where Claude fits next to tools like Canva and Gamma.
